Hailstorm affected areas in Kanungu to receive relief food from OPM

Following a hailstorm that hit Kanungu district on January 4th, 2022  ravaging  areas of Kihiihi T.C, Kihiihi Sub-County, Nyamirama Town Council, and Kayonza Sub-County, the Office of the prime minister yesterday  delivered   20,000Kgs of Maize  flour and 10,000Kgs of beans to Kanungu district to help t families that were affected  

Ambrose Mwesigye Amanyire, the Kanungu resident district commissioner expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister’s office for the quick response which will help the affected families for the meantime.

Sam Arineitwe  Kajojo, the Kanungu  District Chairperson thanked the office of the prime minister for providing relief food to the areas that were affected by the hailstorm.

He noted that the district is waiting for another batch of relief food to cater for the families affected by another hailstorm that hit the district on 12th May 2022.

 Kajojo added that he is in contact with Hon Chris Baryomunsi the  Kinkiizi East legislator to ensure that the affected households are also helped not only with food relief but to also restore damaged property like schools, hospitals, institutions, and households among others.

Robert Abeneitwe the chief Administrative officer Kanungu district emphasized that when distributing this relief item, families should be well represented by both a man and a woman to avoid the selling and exchanging the items for alcohol  

 According to the distribution chart, over 1500 families from  Kayonza Sub-County, Kihiihi Sub-County, Kihiihi Town Council, and Nyamirama Town Council will receive relief food
